Working closely with the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational development and growth of the organization. The Chief Operating Officer will execute the short and long-term vision, plans, and directives of the organizational while providing cross-functional, strategic leadership for key business functions. As a key member of the leadership team, you will have a direct impact on the foundation of a ground-breaking new drug development and taking the process through to commercialization. You will have an analytical and strategic mindset with a proven track record in leading multiple programs from discovery to clinical development.

Company Description:

NeonMind Biosciences is developing and commercializing products that contain Psychedelic compounds. Its first Psychedelic Product Candidate involves administration of Psilocybin to treat obesity and cause weight loss. NeonMind has started preclinical studies at the University of British Columbia and is now designing the protocols for a phase 2 human clinical trial.

NeonMind is developing products that contain legal Medicinal Mushrooms and is engaged in preclinical research into potentially therapeutic uses of compounds found in psychedelic mushrooms. 

NeonMind has filed 5 US provisional patent applications claiming methods of aiding in weight loss, treating compulsive eating disorder, treating obesity or a complication of obesity, and/or altering the diet of an individual by administering Psilocybin or other psychedelic substances.

NeonMind is entering the functional foods market and has recently manufactured and launched for sale Medicinal Mushroom coffee products.

Major Position Accountabilities:

  • Oversees the development of the company’s R&D strategy which ties together scientific strategy with business value
  • Outlines the timeline, forecasts, and budget needed to execute on the R&D and Commercialization strategy
  • Advances from research to clinical development and delivers high quality clinical data for the company’s lead program
  • Implements new functions in the R&D organization to streamline the transition from a preclinical to clinical stage drug development organization
  • Translates the company science into understandable concepts for diverse audiences
  • Identifies new technologies that will position the company as an industry leader

What the company will expect from you:

  • Masters in Neuroscience, Biology, or Chemistry, PhD an asset
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, commercial, and business aspects of the biotech industry
  • Drug development experience and a strong track record in leading multiple programs from discovery to clinical development (commercialization)
  • Experience conducting preclinical/basic science research in neuroscience or neurobiology
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences including investors, business development partners, and clinical development partners
  • Ability to design, organize, and execute a successful clinical approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
