About the Company: Novamind Ventures Inc. (“Novamind”) is building a global network of clinics, retreats and research sites to serve the regulated psychedelics industry. With our wholly-owned subsidiaries, Cedar Psychiatry and Cedar Clinical Research, Novamind is dedicated to providing access to safe and legal psychedelic experiences, while advancing research for psychedelic medicine. Ongoing clinical trials approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are currently evaluating the safety and efficacy of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy (to treat PTSD) and psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy (to treat depression), and if approved, will require specialized infrastructure to facilitate patient treatment. Novamind invests in the infrastructure, protocols and people that are required for a regulated psychedelics industry.

About the Role:

Reporting to the CFO, you will lead and manage the accounting and finance functions for the Company’. You will be primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining Novamind’s accounting practices, procedures and initiatives. You will also oversee the day-to-day management of the company’s finance and administrative operations. We are looking for a smart, energetic and detail-oriented individual, capable of hands-on multi-tasking, and driven by an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team in a growing, fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of all finance and administrative functions, including planning, coordinating, and executing the annual budget process, administration of payroll/benefits, cash flow management, purchasing, insurance and tax planning
  • Preparation of all financial reports, outlooks and forecasts for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Work with external auditors for compliance with public company reporting requirements
  • Maintain and implement policies and operating procedures, internal controls, and accounting standards
  • Assist in the preparation of financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions
  • Other duties as requested by Novamind’s senior leadership team

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively senior finance and accounting roles
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent
  • Public company exposure and familiarity with IFRS
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, and ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Experience with payroll management, employee benefits, insurance policies, tax filings, etc.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with US accounting/finance experience within a healthcare service or clinic environment

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
