The 20-hour per week Instruction Associate participates actively in the life of the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research to forward pedagogical best practices and innovations to enhance student learning. This position reports to and assists the Instruction Supervisor in various aspects of the program as well as works collaboratively with all certificate staff to support the full range of threshold events for each student's progress in the program. Responsibilities include training, overseeing, and supporting Instruction Coordinators, tracking, and advising trainees as needed regarding the completion of each of the assignments and projects required to graduate from the program, and may include supervising student workers and independent contractors. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and professional communication skills and demeanor.
The Instruction Associate maintains records of assignment completion and tracks student progress throughout the program. This staff person will be in communication with the Instruction Supervisor regarding student attendance and progress towards completion, performance of Instruction Coordinators, and any reported or observed student concerns. The Instruction Associate supervises the Instruction Coordinators regarding grading and assigning activities for any student who misses a class and reports to the Instruction Supervisor when a student is having problems in the program and may need referral to the Trainee Support Committee for remediation work. The Instruction Associate is responsible for working directly with students regarding incomplete work and reviews their status of conferral of all certificates of completion of the training program with the Instruction Supervisor. The Instruction Associate maintains the list of graduates of the program and liaises with the CIIS Alumni department. This position is a 20 hour per week role for half-days during usual business hours with some options for working remotely on an ongoing basis and will involve occasional in-person weekend and evening class or event support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-develop and communicate across a curricular vision for the Center that emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, compassion, and integrity.
  • Promote a learning culture, incorporating professional development and ethics, program Beloved Community Initiative and Agreements, and reflective practices.
  • Assess and document student completion of all required projects and activities.
  • Maintain and improve assignment tracking systems.
  • Track all students' progress at each step of the program.
  • Act as problem-solver for concerns with student performance.
  • Provide the advice and professional development to help students meet individual and schoolwide goals and expectations.
  • The Instruction Associate supervises the Instruction Coordinators.
  • Supervises the CPTR Training Support Committee and the referral of trainees to the committee for feedback and remediation when their academic and/or professional performance is not meeting expectations, or they have requested additional psychological support and consultation.
  • Collaborate with the Instruction Supervisor, Center Director, Associate Director of Certificates, and Enrollment and Admissions Manager to ensure cohesion and alignment of support for faculty and students and course materials to further develop cultural applicability and high-quality standard of program offerings.
  • Collaborate with other departments at CIIS to maintain certificate graduate data.
  • Assists in on-going projects as needed in the Center.
     



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or equivalent degree in clinical health care. Graduates of the certificate program are given special consideration.
  • A strong background as a psychotherapist or medical professional, with an understanding of psychedelic-assisted therapies and research.
  • Two or more years of administrative experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Advanced studies in educational leadership preferred but not required.
  • Experience with supervising, training, mentoring, and coaching and experience promoting professional development.
  • Demonstrable experience with advocacy and skills related to diversity and equity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with strong analytical skills as well as technology skills and software fluency.
  • Skill in delivering and receiving feedback.
  • The vision, flexibility, energy, patience, adaptability, and sense of humor to lead successfully and cultivate growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Fully proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, and strong familiarity with typical office management software programs.
  • Strong organizational skills - to maintain an efficient student records and data maintenance procedures
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, including discretion, good judgment, and integrity.

NOTES TO CANDIDATE
Working Conditions -- Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically half-days, Monday through Friday. There may be some options for working remotely on an ongoing basis and will involve occasional in-person weekend and evening class or event support.

If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
